In honor of Sam Phillips’ 100th birthday, Sun Records is bringing some of the label’s greatest innovators to streaming platforms with the Sun Records Originals series. Kenny Parchman was relatively unknown until the rockabilly revival of the 1980s, when his classic sounding tracks like “Tennessee Zip,” “I Feel Like Rockin’,” and alternate versions of songs like “Treat Me Right” and “Love Crazy Baby.”

While Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash carved out the beginnings of national (and international) followings on the Memphis-based label, Parchman never got any further than a record number assigned to his single of "Love Crazy Baby" b/w "I Feel Like Rockin'," which was thereupon canceled, for reasons lost to time. ... more
